Sydney was born in Oakland, CA and was raised primarily by a white woman in a black community. Sydney grew up with a community that reflected herself, and she learned from her multiracial family what it meant to have a strong awareness of black/queer identity and sense of self. She graduated from Mount Holyoke college in May of 2018 with a degree in Anthropology & Africana studies, and a minor in Non-Profit Organizations. Sydney is a Research Assistant with Ceres Policy Research working to end youth incarceration, crimmigration, and expanding LGBTQIA+ youth advocacy.
